Raw materials
The process of choosing the best substrate begins from an early stage.Â
Agroflora: products
for every need
Our responsibility is to have the best quality end-product and to achieve this we feel the urge to use the best quality raw materials. Agroflora firstly, puts extra attention in the choice of the greatest raw ingredients from across the world, then carefully blends them to create the perfect substrate for each plant. Raw materials are very carefully selected always with a focus on excellent performance. German and Lithuanian black and white peat, Cocopeat, Perlite, Zeolite, Calcium carbonate, Pine bark, fertilizers. In addition to these, we offer alternative substrate raw materials too, such as Green fibers, Green compost and bio-fertilizers
Peat
Natural material with different profiles and characteristics. It is mainly extracted in the north of Europe and it stands out by the high percentage of organic matter, high natural moisture content, high water-holding capacity, low specific gravity and medium-to-low permeability.
Cocopeat
Raw material produced from coconut. This material is composed of a mix of coconut peat, coconut fiber and coconut chips. It is widely used within substrates because of its physical properties. In fact, it is an inert material that gives the produced substrate more porosity, better aeration and firmer structure for maintaining the characteristics of the original substrate over time.
Perlite
Inert material extracted from volcanic rock and then heated to expand it. It is characterized by high porosity, light weight and durability. Within substrates it allows better aeration, easier drainage development and improves the texture of the final product.
Zeolite
Material of volcanic origin. It is used within substrates as a soil conditioner due to its own microporosity, thus helps to increase the water retention of the produced substrate and the durability of nutrients by preventing leaching. It also improves soil texture by contributing to increased oxygenation and structure.
Compost
This material is self-produced in-house. We exclusively use green urban rests such as prunings, branches, trees and plant by-products. The production is a virtuous technological process of biological recovery. The process exploits microbial degradation, accelerating and perfecting the natural process that any organic substance undergoes in nature.
Green fiber
Material derived from the woody parts of plants. This component grants a firmer structure and makes the drainage easier. It also has considerable resistance.
Pumice
Pumice is an expanded, inert siliceous rock of volcanic origin. It is used to improve water availability for the plant, promote better oxygenation of the substrate as well as to facilitate drainage.
Pine Bark
Natural material derived from the outer part of tree stems. Especially suitable for the production of very draining, aerated substrates that preserve these characteristics for a long time. Ideal for plant species such as orchids.
Fertiliser
The fertilizers we use are high quality and produced by certified suppliers who guarantee us a high degree of purity and the absence of contaminants.
